Overview

AI OffSwitch is a browser extension that runs locally in your browser while you use WhatsApp™ Web. We do not collect or store your messages, contacts, or account data on our servers. The extension automates steps in the WhatsApp™ Web interface to enable the “Advanced Chat Privacy” setting for your chats.

Data we process

• Local processing only (Extension): The extension reads elements in the WhatsApp™ Web page to navigate and apply settings. We do not transmit chat content or contact data to our servers.
• Diagnostic logs (Extension): On-screen logs may be shown to help you troubleshoot selectors and steps. These logs are not automatically sent to us.
• Website analytics (Site): We use Simple Analytics (see “Analytics”) to understand site usage in a privacy-friendly way.

Website hosting

Our website assets are hosted via Bunny.net. When you visit our website, Bunny.net may process standard HTTP request data (e.g., IP address, user agent) to deliver content via their CDN. This processing is necessary for the secure and efficient provision of the website.

Analytics

We use Simple Analytics on our website to measure general usage without tracking individuals. Simple Analytics is GDPR-friendly, cookie-less, and does not collect personally identifiable information. For more information, see Simple Analytics’ documentation and privacy policy.

Newsletter (Brevo)

We use Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) to manage our email newsletter subscriptions and distributions. If you choose to subscribe on the Newsletter page, your email address and consent preferences are processed by Brevo for the purpose of sending you updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. We do not share your email address with other third parties for marketing.

Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.

• Extension operations: Performed locally on your device to provide the service you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR – performance of a contract / user-requested functionality).
• Website hosting (Bunny.net): Necessary for the legitimate interest of secure and efficient content delivery (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
• Website analytics (Simple Analytics): Legitimate interest in understanding aggregate site usage without tracking individuals (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Data retention

We do not retain your personal data from WhatsApp™ Web. Any website analytics data is handled by Simple Analytics according to their retention policies and is non-identifying.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under data protection laws (e.g., GDPR), including the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. As our extension does not process or store your personal data server-side, most rights requests do not apply to extension usage.
